“WIDEN YOUR WORLD”

NETWORKING SKILLS PROGRAM

What is networking?

Networking can be formally defined as “Expanding one's social or business network by initiating mutually beneficial relationships”.   Simply put, this means; “Meeting and getting to know new people who may be of help to you and you of help to them”.

Networking is a great way to expand the world you live in. It increases business connections, enhances social interaction, introduces you to new concepts and can even open up career advancement opportunities,  Formal business conferences, education classes, social get-togethers, sporting events or any other type of “people meeting people” situations are all great opportunities to “Network” and develop relationships with people you would like to get to know better.

Program Overview

Networking can be a fun and easy way to enrich your life, broaden your horizons, and enhance your career. But, it can also be potentially devastating if you do not know how to network appropriately.  If you are perceived to be pushy or insensitive to the needs and desires of others, people you meet will not want to be a part of your network.

Crucial to successful networking is the concept of treating it as an exchange of ideas, information and experience.  It is not a direct means of selling, telling, or using other people for one’s own benefit.  Networking is a multi faceted process of exchange.  Successful “Networkers” are generous in sharing talents, experiences, and ideas, and always  respectful and considerate of everyone they network with.

"It's not what you know but who you know that makes the difference."
